“3 things your grateful for”

I believe one of my sisters started saying this regularly in our family and it quickly caught on. At family dinner we go around the table and each person says 3 things they are grateful for. Sometimes in conversation we say “3 things your grateful for.” We even snap chat about things we are grateful for.

“Gratitude is the healthiest of all human emotions. The more you express gratitude for what you have, the more likely you will have even more to express gratitude for.” -Zig Ziglar

Years ago in the beginning of “3 things your grateful for” I struggled. I’d have some kind of crisis and that crisis was all I could focus on. I could tell you all the things that were going wrong in my life but it took some time and repetition to rewire my brain to be able to express gratitude during difficult times. Fortunately now I can rattle off 100s of things I’m grateful for without much thought.

This past week has been difficult. My babies and I all had some kind of stomach bug, the washing machine almost started on fire, one of my favorite guinea hens passed away, and much more. I’m sure your week also had it’s challenges. Life can knock us down sometimes. However we have so much to be grateful for. My 3 for this Thankful Thursday are:

  1. I’m so grateful the kids and I seem to be doing A LOT better today
  2. I did not have to use the fire extinguisher on the smoking hot washing machine and I had an extra washing machine in the garage. I am so thankful to currently have a working washing machine
  3. Despite everything currently going on I am so grateful I was able to get my flock of sheep out on pasture for the first time this year. (Pictured)

What about you? What are 3 things you are grateful for?
